THE ROLE: DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES
The front end (cashiering) team at Providore are an imperative part of our store as they provide the first welcome to the store and the offer a warm goodbye as our shoppers leave. Their daily tasks include checking out customers, fielding questions, stocking and facing product, maintaining a clean and organized space and cross-training in other areas of the store.. Hallmarks of the job are a high attention to detail (particularly around cash handling and transactions), a keen mind for problem solving, and a genuine desire to help customers have and incredible Providore experience.

The Assistant Manager Front End position is responsible for hiring, training and scheduling the cashier team. The person in this role is knowledgeable, professional, and a supportive leader who works to make the store a better place for customers and co-workers. The Assistant Manager Front End works in unison with other store Assistant Managers, delegates tasks and motivates cashiers to complete their daily duties. This position requires a dynamic attention to detail and a strong ability to switch in and out of the many roles that a managerial position requires.

QUALIFICATIONS

• You have a proven history of managing people and the ability to give clear direction
• Experience in hiring, training and scheduling are required
• You have excellent math and counting skills
• Proficiency with Revel or Toast POS or other touch-screen POS systems is a plus, and you are comfortable with MAC based systems. You are comfortable with technology
• You pride yourself on your level of professionalism
• You have a high attention to detail
• You are a true people person, and love engaging with others
• You understand the rigors of being in customer service and love it
• You are a constructive, engaged and positive leader
• Keeping the store clean is important to you
• You are self-motivated and constantly looking for ways to innovate
• You have a love for food

THE NEED: REQUIREMENTS

• You are fully vaccinated and boosted against COVID-19.
• You have availability for full-time employment (minimum 32 hours/week) and can work regular weekend and evening shifts (Our store hours are 10a-7p everyday, so opening shifts begin around 9/9:30a and closing shifts end by 8:00p)
• You have open availability during the holidays (November 15 January 1) with no pre-arranged travel
• You should be able to safely perform the physical demands of the job (including standing, climbing ladders, reaching, stooping, and lifting loads of up to 50 pounds).

Located in Northeast Portland, Providore Fine Foods is a neighborhood fixture for daily customers and a dining and shopping destination for locals and visitors alike. As the next evolution of Pastaworks (a Portland institution since 1983), Providore offers a beautiful market complete with artisan cheese and charcuterie, imported groceries, European and local wines, and our famous housemade fresh pasta. We are joined in the market by our own Mediterranean rotisserie Arrosto, along with Rubinette Produce Market, TwoXSea, Revel Meat Co., Little T Baker, and Hilary Horvath Flowers to create a grocery experience without parallel.

Expected hours: 32 – 40 per week
