SUMMARY: Lead carpenters must be able to lead a crew of 3 to 4 people. Remote Alaska residential remodeling experiences a plus.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
- Study individual job sites, plan work and accurately take off construction material
- Estimate amount of work and time required for job
- Experience building foundations and leveling buildings.
- Experience with all phases of residential construction. Installation of windows, doors, Insulation,
- sealing, flooring siding and roof work. Able to lay out and build stairs. Finish carpentry. Setting
cabinets and counter tops. General understanding of electrical and plumbing.
- Manage materials and supplies as necessary to facilitate the efficient progression of work on the job.
- Understand construction logistics in Rural Alaska.
- Interact with the general public maintaining a professional attitude and working relationship.
- Travels within the region for projects.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. functions. Fluency in Yup’ik and English is strongly preferred. Work will be in outdoor environments. May travel by jet, small plane, four-wheeler, snow machine, boat.

Show proficiency with residential/ commercial construction.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE: Must have a High school diploma or GED. Four (4) years working in a carpenter position. Apprenticeship trade in construction or maintenance is strongly preferred. Must have experience in and knowledge of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and use it.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid State of Alaska Driver’s License with a good enough driving record to be insured on the AVCP Vehicle Policy.
