Job Summary:
The Business Office Lead is responsible for key areas of data entry, tracking, and overall management of student tuition accounts. This position is also the main point of contact between the VA office and both the school and its students.
Essential Duties:
- Oversee campus interactions with Veteran's Administration (VA) students in regards to enrollment, accounting, and financial situations that may affect the receipt of veteran's education benefits
- Assist with the administration of the VA benefits program through the following duties:
- Deposit checks into campus bank account and query VA payments and deposits posted
- Pull VA-related reports as needed
- Attend VA conferences and adapt campus VA processes to maintain compliance
- Serve as main contact point for the VA and VA vocational rehab
- Determine correct tuition credit to be applied for transfer credits and/or scholarships and post to student accounts
- Attend essential meetings including: leadership, student success, IAIP, and VA Task Force
- Manage office budget and order business supplies as needed for the office
- Serve as speaker for student orientation and VA briefing
- Demonstrate effective teamwork with all members of the campus to meet student needs, assisting any student as needed
- Ensure completion all established business office processes to allow for accurate and timely processing of month-end and other regularly scheduled reporting
- Manage and organize the campus book room
- Correctly process withdrawal calculations per State and Federal regulations

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
This position requires light to medium work, occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds while frequently lifting up to 10 pounds. Administrative work requires sitting for long periods of time and consistent use of a computer. Position is required to express complex topics through speech and written communication. The worker is not substantially exposed to chemicals or adverse environmental conditions. This position does require driving and overnight travel bi-annually to attend conferences.
Qualifications
Working Hours
Schedule may vary between the hours of 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM Monday - Thursday, and 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM on Friday in order to meet departmental and student needs. Occasional Saturday hours may be required.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Associate's degree in business, accounting, finance, or a related field. Additional two (2) years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a formal degree
Experience: 4+ years of experience in business administration, education, or related field with at least 1+ year of experience as a VA certifying official preferred.
License(s)/Certification(s): VA School Certifying Official Certificate within 7 days of hire
