Lead Barista - Birmingham - (Full Time)

Maintain Frothy Monkey’s coffee program through assisting training, general education of staff, and overall monitoring of company standards. This includes constant drink monitoring, targeted training, program development, minor equipment maintenance, and professional research.

Expectations:

As a Lead Barista, you will be expected to fulfill the following expectations:

1. Facilitate employee needs

   • Ensures employee breaks without disrupting the flow on the floor.

   • Provides direction and training as necessary to new hires and current staff.

   • Must be a resource of FM product knowledge and vendors.

   • Ensures safety and security of staff.

2. Responsible for all Barista bar shift activities

   • Monitor espresso drinks, drip coffees, pour over coffees, and hot/iced teas

     and maintain adherence to company beverage standards.

   • Responsible for keeping the staff informed of any new information, events,

     or products related to coffee or tea. Conduct staff coffee tastings, focused bar

     time, group training, and product demonstrations.

   • Responsible for scheduling and implementing all store coffee/tea education

     and weekly updates to the barista training log.

• Conduct staff coffee tastings, focused bar time, group training, and product demonstrations.

• Participate in the barista training process, conducting initial coffee tastings and knowledge assessments.

• Works with the GM/AGM to continually evaluate and deliver staff training adherence and skill development results. Maintain a presence with employees, ensuring coffee standards are demonstrated at all times.

• Maintains strong relationships with Frothy Monkey Roasting Co. and other Frothy Monkey locations and attends monthly Lead Barista meetings.

• Communicates with the GM/AGM, Baristas and Frothy Monkey Roasting Co. Technicians about any bar needs or ongoing equipment issues.

• Ensures all side work sheets are completed correctly before allowing staff to leave for the day.

• E-mails all management shift notes at the end of AM or PM shift.

1. Performs basic inventory management

   • Receives and signs for shipments and deliveries. Make sure all deliveries are

     stored appropriately. Puts invoices in the invoice folder.

   • Helps perform monthly inventory counts.

   • Takes inventory and orders all espresso related products.

   • Orders all coffee products according to Frothy Monkey’s guidelines, prices

     drinks correctly, and communicates these changes to the team.

   • Organizes empty cold brew kegs, ensures they get returned in a timely

   • manner.

   • Maintains par sheets for efficiency and cost control.

2. Provides managerial leadership

   • Trains/Coaches staff in a respectful and appropriate way.

   • Corrects and guides staff to adhere to Frothy standards.

   • Communicates necessary disciplinary action to GM/AGM in a timely manner.

   • Resolves customer complaints respectfully as a representative of Frothy

     Monkey.

   • Works with the GM/AGM to continually evaluate and deliver staff training adherence and skill development results.

     You will also be expected to perform duties assigned to you by the AGM or GM and also have flexible availability and work weekends and holidays.
