The Lead Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) has demonstrated leadership skills and clinical proficiency as an Advanced Practice Provider. Tasked with advancing health equity, they will ensure all activities and services are aligned with the vision, mission, programs, and values of the St. Petersburg Free Clinic (SPFC), fostering health and accessibility for all. This position entails delivering outpatient primary care to Health Center patients while serving as both a supervisor and integral team member within a multidisciplinary team.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Work with the Director of Patient Care to define the roles and responsibilities of clinical staff.

Position Responsibilities
- Lead provider for the care and management of assigned patients.
- Collaborate with staff and volunteer specialty providers to address patient needs.
- Establish a multidisciplinary care team to oversee the medical management of patients with complex health conditions.
- Conduct routine and acute patient assessments, including diagnoses, treatment, care plans.
- Perform procedures commensurate with training and experience.
- Utilize peer-reviewed medical resources for informed decision-making in patient triaging and treatments.
- Maintain up-to-date problem lists and medication lists in Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Ensure accurate documentation of all patient encounters, in person and via telephone, to support program accountability and outcomes.
- Develop standardized documentation protocols.
- Review lab and radiology results daily, ensuring appropriate patient follow-up and timely communication of results.
- Monitor clinic flow and patient experiences, collaborating with the Director of Patient Care to implement strategies for improvement.
- Embrace a trauma-informed approach to care.
- Establish a process with direct reports for referring, overseeing, and managing eligible patients.
- Collaborate with all Health Center departments to evaluate, implement, and optimize Advanced Practice care models.
- Partner with Volunteer Services in recruiting and interviewing new volunteer Registered Nurses (RNs) and scribes.
- Assist in creating policies and standard operating procedures for the EHR and general Health Center Operations.
- Monitor and oversee the patient encounters of volunteers and conduct related follow-up.
- Train volunteer providers, RNs, and scribes on clinic workflow, EHR, and standardized documentation, providing opportunities for additional training as needed.
- Adapt to changes in volunteer provider schedules to ensure adequate patient care.
- Utilize resources to assist patients in obtaining medications affordably.
- Identify patients requiring follow-up appointments with in-house specialists or outside referral sources and facilitate access to care.
- Foster a positive, supportive environment for patients, volunteers, and team members.
- Participate in daily morning huddles and clinical team staff meetings.
- Assist the Director of Patient Care and Director of Health Outcomes as needed in compiling reports, assessing service expansion, developing clinic policies, and tracking performance and measuring health outcomes.
- Participate in occasional outside health fairs or screenings as necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience:
- Current Florida APRN license.
- Three (3) years of clinical practice experience.
- Three (3) years of demonstrated leadership preferred.
- Experience in adult primary care with management of chronic diseases including diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
- Willingness to work with the medically underserved populations.
- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of desk work and computer usage.
- Ability to lift up to fifteen (15) pounds when necessary.

Salary Description
$125,000-135,000/year
