Position Description:
The Lawn and Garden associate is the face of The Grange to the customer. It is the first and last impression for the customer. Therefore, the role of L&G Associate is critical to the success of The Grange.
The L&G associate is responsible for providing the highest level of customer service. They are expected to greet every customer in a positive way, assist customers with knowledge of department, process transactions in an orderly and efficient way, complying with Company policies and procedures.
Key Responsibility Areas:
1. Merchandising and maintaining all things in the Lawn and Garden department. The department is to be attractively and effectively merchandised.
2. Make sure all product is clearly priced, including floor displays and outdoor product as well as shelf items.
3. Maintain and change out floor displays within the department.
4. Cleanliness. All product and the shelves they sit on are clean and orderly.
5. Be quick to respond to calls for assistance. Maintain lines at the cash register when called or needed.
6. Maintain a clean back stock area.
Requirements
- Familiarity with lawn & garden products/ horticulture
- People skills and an ability to advise and sell Lawn and Garden products to meet customer needs.
- Willingness to learn
- Team player
- Ability to stand for an extended period of time
- Ability to multitask
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays to meet business needs
- Retail experience preferred
- Be able to sit, bend, stand, move around the store, and lift items of up to 25lbs.
- Be able to use common retail technology, such as smart phones and tablets.
- Assist in inventory counts, price changes and spot checks throughout the year.
Other Specifications:
The L&G associate will report to the L&G Lead for department tasks.
Weekend availability is required
