Position Overview
Under the supervision of the program administrator, provide risk control consulting services related to Law Enforcement (LE) and jail operations, risk control issues including but not limited to consultations, policy review, training, and risk assessments for assigned members of the Association of County Commissioners of Oklahoma Self-Insured Group (ACCO SIG) and Self-Insured Fund (ACCO SIF). Collaborate with the ACCO SIG/SIF team to identify service opportunities and to determine and prescribe appropriate and effective risk mitigation strategies for ACCO SIG/SIF members. Position requires frequent travel to work directly with ACCO SIG/SIF members, with possible overnight stays.
Essential Job Functions
- Provide LE and Jail operations-related loss control consultation services to ACCO SIG/SIF members
- Conduct on site assessments to identify risks and assist in establishing risk management programs
- Develop and deliver presentations on LE and Jail Operations-related topics pursuant to individual Sheriff and jail policies
- Attend ACCO and other county official educational events, conferences and meetings as assigned
- Monitor and analyze emerging issues, relevant statutory changes, and trends relating to LE and Jail Operations
- Assist in development of best practices for ACCO Risk management team for providing technical assistance to members
- Develop resources for ACCO publications and online resources
- Collaborate on internal projects and program development as assigned
- Perform other duties as assigned
Education/Experience
- Associates or bachelor’s degree in Law Enforcement preferred
- A minimum of five years of Law Enforcement experience in a supervisory or management position is required
- Experience with a county or other governmental LE entity preferred
- Current status as an Oklahoma Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training (CLEET) instructor preferred
Other Skills, Knowledge, and Requirements
- This is a member facing role and will require the use of your picture, likeness, image, and/or voice recording videos, and other posts to ACCO social media accounts, webpages, promotional, and educational materials
- Comprehensive knowledge of LE, jail operations, and risk mitigation techniques, including expertise in major federal and state laws affecting these areas
- Position requires familiarity with Oklahoma Workers Compensation laws and regulations
- Must be proficient in learning strategies for development and delivery of training to diverse adult audiences
- Position requires excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Position requires a high degree of professionalism representing ACCO in significant contacts with elected officials, members, and others
- Excellent time management and record keeping required
- Must be able to function independently with minimal supervision in compliance with established guidelines
- Valid Oklahoma driver’s license and good driving record required; must be able to drive
Physical Requirements
- Requires some overnight travel
- Required to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time
- May be required to climb and walk on roof tops and tight spaces
- May be required to lift or move boxes and designated ACCO equipment, up to 50 pounds
- May be required to stand, bend, kneel, reach or squat occasionally for extended lengths of time
- May be required to climb stairs or a ladder
- May be exposed to extreme weather conditions during travel or while working outside
