Law Development Officer - 502496

SUMMARY:

The Law Development Officer, reporting to the Senior Director of Development & Alumni Relations, is responsible for identifying, qualifying, cultivating, and soliciting leadership and major gift prospects for 4- to 6-figure gifts. The Law Development officer will be responsible for managing a portfolio of high potential prospects with the goals of helping to build the donor pipeline and of securing support to advance the strategic priorities of the University of Richmond School of Law, which will include establishing and achieving annual performance metrics on an individual and team basis. The Development Officer will also be responsible for the Law School's leadership giving program (the 1870 Society) to include execution of an annual leadership giving campaign and management of The 1870 Society Committee, who aid in peer-to-peer fundraising. The Officer will be a self-starter who is forward thinking and able to manage multiple priorities.

The Development Officer is collaborative as he/she works in concert with other members of the Law School Advancement office, the Dean, the Law School's administrative team (career services, student affairs, admissions, communications), the President's Office, and the central Advancement Division.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage a portfolio of assigned leadership and major gift prospects.:
  • Manage the Law School's 1870 Society leadership giving program which recognizes law donors who give $2,500 or more to the law school annually.:
  • Serve as a collaborative leader and thought-partner on the Law Advancement team.:
    • Attend be an active participant at regularly scheduled Law and University Advancement meetings and events.
    • Be a thought partner, providing strategic input on The Law Advancement team's various initiatives (alumni relations, annual & leadership giving, prospect management, and donor relations) and how they may be leveraged to support both portfolio management and 1870 Society efforts.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated record of soliciting leadership and major gifts.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment, demonstrate an understanding of the ethical principles associated with working in development, and to use discretion in interactions with members of the University of Richmond community.
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, along with the ability to work with diverse internal and external constituencies including donors and volunteers.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with honesty and transparency in a collaborative, multi-level team environment with a high degree of collegiality.
  • Strong written, communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and set priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Skill in the use of Microsoft office and fundraising software applications, including database management.
  • Required: Must have a valid Driver's License and be able to produce a driving record with a minimum of 3 years of driving history in good standing

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Minimum of three to five years of experience in frontline fundraising, preferably in higher education, with a proven track record of success.
  • Computer proficiency is required, and experience with Blackbaud CRM, or other donor database is preferred.
  • A high degree of personal integrity is essential.

WORK HOURS:

  • Full-time, exempt position
  • Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; 7.75 hrs./day; 38.75 hrs./week; some early morning, evening, weekend work and occasional overnight travel

SALARY STRUCTURE:
Pay Grade 8 (Hiring Range $64,210.00 to $85,072.00 annually)
