PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Assist in the cleaning of laundry which includes pick up, cleaning, drying, folding, and delivery of school athletics, physical education, and food service laundry.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:

• High School Diploma/GED from an accredited institution, preferred
• Basic Understanding and verbalization of the English language

• None

• Knowledge of routine and laundry services best practices and methods
• Knowledge of equipment, chemicals, and materials used in laundry processes
• Ability to physically operate laundry equipment and perform laundry functions which include but are not limited to loading heavy laundry (approximately 55 pounds), bending, reaching, pushing, carrying, standing, using extremities, etc.
• Basic understanding and verbalization of the English language

• Follow established AISD safety procedures
• Abide by all AISD Board policies as well as procedures outlined in the Auxiliary Employee Handbook
• Understand instructions for cleaning and safety procedures
• Follow established procedures for cleaning, folding, and moving laundry or equipment
• Keep all district facilities and grounds, including sidewalks, driveways, parking lots and work areas neat and clean
• Keep laundry services areas neat, clean, safe and organized
• Operate cleaning equipment and lift heavy items and/or equipment
• Work cooperatively with coworkers, supervisors, facilities managers and all District personnel to ensure a high standard of safety, cleanliness and efficiency of laundry operations
• Assume responsibility for daily directives as given by the Laundry Foreman
• Maintain effective communication and rapport within assigned department and with all other areas of contact
• Position may require overtime, as necessary to maintain function of District facilities
• Position will respond to service calls in a timely manner while serving call-in duty, as necessary to maintain function of District facilities
• Any other duties as may be directed by your immediate supervisor and/or any other supervisor within your line of authority

• Perform vacuuming, dusting, emptying trash, moping, dust mopping, sweeping, stripping, waxing, shampooing, buffing and burnishing

• None

• Commercial washing machines, dryers, carts, pallet jacks, dollies, forklifts, telephones, trucks, and all other equipment necessary for District use

• Tools/Equipment Used: Commercial washing machines and dryers. Working with machinery, driving vehicle and/or equipment, lift-gate, truck bed crane, and climbing ladders.
• Posture: Bending or stooping
• Motion: Moderate walking, stairs, ramps, and scaffolds. Mopping, sweeping, and sitting. Reaching above shoulder level
• Lifting: Ability to lift and carry 55 or more pounds without assistance; continual moderate lifting and carrying (1-55 pounds)
• Environment: Majority of work is indoors; work inside and outside (exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather); exposure to noise
• Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress, with frequent interruptions.
