Job Summary:
- The purpose of the Latex Froth Machine Operator is to be responsible for keeping secondary backing prepared for coating on both the latex and urethane lines. Froth Machine Operator is also responsible for operating the valves to change latex compounds running on the coater, as well as keeping latex supplied to the adhesive pan.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Prepare for secondary backing changes by staging secondary backing in the proper area.
- Make secondary backing changes as necessary, seaming the end of one roll to the beginning of the next roll while ensuring coater does not stop during the change.
- Use the proper latex valves to switch from one compound to another based on the need due to style changes.
- Prepare for any additives that may need to be added to the compound due to style changes and ensure those additives start at the correct time.
- Communicate with supervisor about schedules to determine what changes will be in store for the day’s run.
- Ensure secondary skipcoat application is proper on the latex line.
- Keep all areas clean.
- Unload trailers with secondary backing and locate the rolls in proper locations.
- Unload trailers with any finishing raw materials used on the coater.
- Keep topical applicator provided with topicals from totes.
- Monitor blender head, latex pump, and lines to ensure continuous running of equipment.
Performance Expectations (if applicable):
- Lifting is required of buckets weighing approximately 40 lbs. at least twice per shift.
- Standing is required 1/3 of shift.
- Reaching is required for wrenches, valves, blender, controls, etc., approximately 60 times per shift.
- Stooping is required approximately 15 times per shift for intervals of 1 minute.
- Bending is required to turn valves, check tanks and pumps approximately 15 times per shift.
- Climbing of stairs and ladders is occasionally required.
- Must be able to use hand trucks approximately 20 times per shift.
- Must be able to use wrenches approximately 25 times per shift.
Experience/Education Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Must be able to read and write and do basic addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication in English.
- Must be able to operate a lift truck safely and complete necessary lift truck training
Other Requirements:
- Overtime is required on occasion.
- Maintain lift truck certification.
- All accidents/incidents must be reported immediately.
- Perform any other duties as required by management.
- Safety equipment must be worn when required, and safety requirements followed in all areas.
- Report to management any safety, quality, or production issues while performing the job.
- Responsible for safety, quality, and productivity of output.
