Lateral Associate Recruiting Coordinator

Title: Recruiting Coordinator

Department: Recruiting

Reports To: Director of Associate Recruiting

Location: Austin, Houston or San Antonio

FLSA: Exempt

Position Summary: This position functions as an integral part of the Recruiting department and its broader mission of attorney recruitment, integration and retention. In this role, you will play a crucial part in the recruitment process for Lateral Associates, contributing to the grown and success of Jackson Walker.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: This position is responsible for oversight and implementation of Jackson Walker’s Lateral Associate hiring initiatives. Lateral Recruiting

  • Collaborate with practice group leaders to understand hiring needs and requirements for Lateral Associate, staff attorney and judicial clerk positions for the Austin, Houston and San Antonio offices.
  • Manage the end-to-end recruitment process, from sourcing and screening candidates to coordinating interviews, facilitating the decision-making process and drafting offer letters.
  • Conduct initial candidate assessments, including reviewing resumes, conducting phone screenings, and evaluating qualifications.
  • Coordinate background checks, reference checks and conflict checks.
  • Coordinate interview schedules, travel arrangements, and candidate communication to ensure a positive and efficient recruitment experience.
  • Maintain the Lateral Associate Recruiting job postings, careers page and portal page.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in the applicant tracking system (viRecruit) to track candidate progress and metrics.
  • Work with search firms and utilize search software to source candidates.
  • Assist in developing ongoing relationships with search firms, ensuring that these resources are provided up-to-date information about the firm, our practice, hiring goals and standards.
  • Identify market trends, issues and risks to establish a competitive edge.
  • Track and report statistical data to the Recruiting Manager and Director of Associate Recruiting with respect to recruiting efforts.
  • Coordinate steps for the Lateral Associate Integration Process which includes sending surveys, analyzing feedback, checking in on new hires and working with the Recruiting Assistant to identify attorneys for integration lunches.
  • Coordinate the Chambers Associate and Vault Surveys for the firm.

Law School Recruiting

  • Assist with summer associate program events and law school events occasionally as needed.

General

  • Travel to other JW offices as needed.
  • Actively participate in National Association of Law Placement (NALP), NALSC and local Legal Recruiting Administrators chapter.

Knowledge, skills and abilities required:

  • A Bachelor's degree and/or previous law firm experience in recruiting or other professional services firm is preferred.
  • Experience in viDesktop preferred.
  • Proficient with MS Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Ability to read and write in order to proof and perform editing (e.g., punctuation, grammar, spelling). Perform non-complex arithmetic calculations when verifying calculations on forms and documents; maintain records and filing systems at a level normally acquired through completion of high school or equivalent.
  • Ability to type own correspondence and reports at a level of 40 wpm.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under time constraints.
  • Ability to proofread typed material for grammatical, typographical or spelling errors.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate and follow instructions effectively from a diverse group of clients, attorneys and staff to provide information with courtesy and tact.

  • Work sometimes requires more than 40 hours per week to perform the essential duties of the position; requires irregular hours, requires some travel.
  • Other duties as assigned by the employer.
  • Physical requirements are:
    • Sighted
    • Good hearing and clear speaking voice

Working Conditions:Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise and temperature.

Work Hours: 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and one day a week work from home

Travel: Some travel is expected for this position.
