Hiring Range: $54,017.00 - $63,191.00
Work Day/Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Responsible for assisting to process crime scenes for Latent Print evidence, collecting and analyzing Latent Print evidence and/or data, utilizing the ACE-V methodology to examine Latent Print evidence, maintaining laboratory and other analyses tools, preparing reports, and providing expert testimony.
  • Responsible for the development, documentation, receipt, comparison, and storage of Latent Print evidence.
  • Examines known record prints and Latent Print evidence utilizing the ACE-V methodology.
  • Maintains chain-of-custody of evidence.
  • Assists with obtaining known record prints from live and deceased individuals as needed.
  • Applies various techniques and imaging processes for visualization/development of Latent Print evidence, such as sequentially processing evidence using chemicals, powders, and light sources.
  • Knowledge of digital photography techniques to document and preserve Latent Print evidence.
  • Prepares and/or maintains reports, files, records, and other documentation; gathers and compiles information; and reviews work for accuracy and completeness.
  • Provides customer service in accordance with law enforcement protocols, policies and procedures.
  • May conduct Latent Print training as assigned.
  • Performs examinations on physical evidence to assist in the investigation of crimes.
  • Operates AFIS/NGI.
  • Maintains laboratory and associated equipment.
  • Utilizes personal protective equipment according to the prescribed safety standards and regulations.
  • Provides expert testimony and prepares displays to present information in court.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
  • Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Sociology, Economics or related field including analytical studies.
  • One year of Latent Print experience.
  • Valid, unrestricted, North Carolina driver's license "or" if you currently have another states driver's license, must be willing and able to obtain a valid NC driver's license within 60 days of hire.
  • One year of full-time experience in Latent Print comparison work.
