Job description

This is what you will do:
The LAR Technician IV will be an active member of the in-vivo Study Support team. You will collaborate with Study Support Lead to drive on site in-vivo studies. In this role you implement Study Support within the Rare Disease Unit (RDU). This position will work with vivarium management, LAR staff, scientific staff, the attending veterinarian and the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC). Provide technical support services supporting in-vivo protocol activities. You will also use your animal husbandry skills to assist care staff in routine vivarium activities.
You will be responsible for:
  • Conducting on site In-vivo studies through study organization, dosing, sampling, and handling animal models in support of protocol activities.
  • Daily animal health and welfare observations in adherence to Alexion Standard Operating Procedures (SOPS) and animal use protocols.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of relevant documentation and recording of electronic data.
  • Attend project team meetings and share experimental data as needed
  • Assist with storage, accurate handling, use, and record keeping of study formulations.
  • Assist with husbandry tasks when needed, including daily animal health and welfare checks, cage changes, room sanitations, and cage wash responsibilities.
  • Assists with the receipt, stocking and maintenance of supply inventory as needed.
  • Assist with inspection readiness.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.

  • Be willing to work a 40hr week with weekend and holiday requirements on a rotational basis.

We would prefer for you to have:
  • BS degree
  • 3 or more years of direct technical experience within the research laboratory environment.
  • AALAS certification at the Laboratory Animal Technician (LAT) level; LATg preferred.
  • Experience in rodent handling, genotyping, dose administration by multiple routes, tissue/blood sampling and necropsy.
