A little more about us:
West Chicago Elementary School District 33 is a Pre-K through 8th grade system. There are six elementary schools, three preschool and one 6/7/8 middle school. West Chicago Elementary School District 33's population reflects the diverse demographics of West Chicago and portions of Winfield and Wheaton, from which it draws its student enrollment. The overall student population is 4,530. Of that number, approximately 80.1% of the students come from Hispanic origins, 13.8% White, 2.5% Asian/Pacific Islander and 2.6% Black.
The Mission of West Chicago Elementary School District 33 is to impart the knowledge and skills that will empower all students to pursue their maximum potential to confidently contribute to and benefit from our society locally and globally.
Lemen Middle School Highlights
Leman Middle School serves 1,300 sixth- through eighth-graders in an innovative and responsive learning environment. The staff at Leman is a tight-knit community and fosters a family-like environment for all.
Highlights of our programming include the following:
- Daily 80-minute blocks of Language Arts and Math for all students
- Daily common PLT and planning time for all content areas
- Exploratory choice through our Pathway system for all students, including courses like Latinos in Action, Podcasting, Drama, Financial Literacy, Video Game Design, Career Cruising, Civics, SEL, and many more!
- Gradel-level student support teams, each comprised of a counselor, two social workers, a family liaison, and a dean of students
- A thriving Arts program with opportunities in Band, Orchestra, Choir, Mariachi, as well as a three-year Art sequence
- Small caseloads and daily case management time for all LBS1 teachers
- An extensive community school model with well-established partnerships throughout the area
