Description
Trowbridge Wolf Michaels, a Fisher Associates Landscape Architecture Studio, is seeking an Intern through the summer. The Landscape Architecture Studio provides an immersive program in which you will be fully embedded within multiple project teams, obtaining exposure to a diverse range of design exploration.
We are looking for a creative team-oriented designer who has a passion for collaboration with strong communication and organizational skills to provide project support while developing their own high-value skillset through hands-on experiences. Working directly with our professional team members, the applicant may be involved with the following activities: concept origination, visualization, drafting, material research, precedent and typology research, case study formation, and field visits for construction observation and in support of inventory and analysis.
The 2024 summer internship opportunity will allow individuals to immerse themselves, over the course of 8-12 weeks, within a Landscape Architecture studio culture based in Ithaca, New York. The ideal candidate will have experience using a variety of industry standard software including but not limited to: Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), Rhino, Lumion, Grasshopper, Sketchup, and AutoCAD. Interns will obtain OSHA 10-hour certification as part of their training.

The primary function of this role is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

  • Establish and maintain strong client relationships adhering to the Fisher Clientship philosophy.
  • Develops high-quality renderings and model making over several platforms.
  • Prepares drawings/models from rough sketches or from existing design information (verbal instructions and notes).
  • Revises or changes drawings, traces and/or copies existing drawings and completes simple calculations with specific instructions.
  • Understands production drawing conventions and, with supervision, learns to execute them consistently.
  • Participates in team meetings to coordinate design options and ideas.
  • Maintains neat and orderly work files, which will allow access to project information by other team members.
  • Understands the organization of a set of drawings and is able to locate information correctly with the drawings.
  • Provides basic support for assigned projects under close and frequent supervision. Completes routine design and graphic assignments.
  • Demonstrates basic knowledge of building materials
  • And other duties as assigned by Supervisor

Requirements
Education & Experience
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Landscape Architecture or related field.
  • Strong academic performance in relevant coursework.
  • Familiarity with the design process and contributes towards design concept development.
  • Basic familiarity with production software, including: Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), Rhino, Lumion, Grasshopper, Sketchup, GIS, and AutoCAD.

Salary Range: $20 - $22/hour
