A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A LAND ACQUISITION AGENT / RIGHT-OF-WAY ACQUISITION SPECIALIST
As a Land Acquisition Agent / Right-of-Way Acquisition Specialist, you have the important role of mediating the negotiation process for real estate purchases, ensuring all parties are dealt with fairly and honestly. Your work begins with researching properties we've prospected for land development. Thoroughly examining maps, field inspections, ownership records, and legal documents, you are fully informed and prepared to negotiate with real estate owners. Trustworthy and personable, you've developed a network within the communities you serve, and you act as a liaison between our company and the public. A skilled communicator, you meet with owners to discuss construction, installations, and design changes that may affect their property. You competently negotiate right-of-way acquisitions that are beneficial to all parties, and you promptly prepare payment information to facilitate quick compensation for real estate purchases.
Our engineering and surveying teams know they can count on your assistance throughout all the preparatory phases of land development, including due diligence, decision support, and deal negotiation. You also research encroachments on company property to determine appropriate remediation actions. Attentive to detail, you compile, process, and record finalized real estate documents. You love having a job that rewards your research skills, and you feel great when you negotiate a deal that gratifies everyone involved!
QUALIFICATIONS FOR A LAND ACQUISITION AGENT / RIGHT-OF-WAY ACQUISITION SPECIALIST
- Bachelor's degree in finance, marketing, or business administration OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
- 1+ years of experience working with Land Acquisitions, right-of-way easements, or real estate
- Ability to read and understand right-of-way plans and plats
- Ability to evaluate legal descriptions of property as well as acquisition documents
- Ability to negotiate effectively
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Valid driver's license
