THIS POSTING IS FOR THE 2024 SEASON (Memorial Day to Labor Day)
JOB SUMMARY
The Guide role in NOC’s lake program will guide and supervise all lake and flatwater activities including guided tours, rentals, and team-oriented activities. This position operates from NOC’s Fontana Lake access which lies at the eastern edge of our Nantahala campus. Our lake and flatwater program accommodate many of NOC Adventure Pass guests in the heat of the summer as it has proven to be one of our most popular activities for the entire family. Our various watercraft and the tranquility of our Fontana Lake access is only a short walk from the NOC main campus.
Responsibilities
- Quickly becoming knowledgeable about Lake and Flatwater activities as well as other NOC products, especially as they relate to the Adventure Pass Package
- Developing proficiency with NOC’s reservation software as needed for lake activities
- Leading and Logistically coordinating guided kayak trips and team-building activities
- Documenting guide or guest incidents
- Maintaining a clean, organized, visually pleasing work area
- Maintaining accurate inventory of all NOC lake crafts, tools, supplies, and assets
- Other tasks as qualified and needed
Qualifications
- Highschool diploma or GED
- Current CPR and First Aid certifications will be required upon hire
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Background or experience in team building, experiential education, or facilitation
- Willing and able to commit to seasonal nature and demands of this position including start date, end date, and scheduling variability throughout.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Able to lift up to 70 lbs. repetitively
- Able to bend, stoop, and twist
- Able to carry heavy equipment over long distances
- Able to stand for long periods of time
- Must be able to work in variable and sometimes adverse weather conditions.
- Comfortable working in a fast paced, busy, and dynamic environment.
