Paoli OB/GYN is seeking a Laborist to work approximately 6 weekday calls per month, 1:6 weekend call, and 6 days per month seeing OB patients in office.
- Office locations - Paoli, Exton, Collegeville, & King of Prussia
- Team - 5 OB/GYN Physicians, 3 CRNPs
- Affiliated Hospital - Paoli Hospital, Main Line Health System
Key Responsibilities:
Labor and Delivery Management:
- Monitor and assess pregnant women in labor.
- Make decisions regarding the timing and method of delivery, including cesarean sections if necessary.
- Administer pain relief medications as needed.
- Provide emotional support to the mother and her family.
- Address any complications or emergencies that arise during labor and delivery.
Patient Assessment:
- Conduct thorough physical examinations of pregnant patients.
- Review medical histories and prenatal records.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, such as ultrasound scans, fetal heart rate monitoring, and blood tests.
Collaboration:
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including nurses, midwives, anesthesiologists, and neonatologists, to provide comprehensive care.
- Communicate effectively with the patient's primary OB-GYN, providing updates on the progress of labor.
Documentation:
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of patient assessments, interventions, and progress during labor.
- Complete birth certificates and other required documentation.
Emergency Response:
- Be prepared to respond to obstetric emergencies, such as fetal distress, placental abruption, or maternal hemorrhage.
Quality Improvement:
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and safety in labor and delivery.
Qualifications:
- Medical degree (MD or DO) with board certification in obstetrics and gynecology.
- Current Pennsylvania medical license, DEA, and ability to obtain necessary hospital privileges.
- Able to participate in Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial plans.
- Strong clinical skills in obstetrics and gynecology.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure and make quick decisions in high-stress situations.
