Laboratory Technologist Lead - Part Time

SIMEDHealth is currently seeking a Part TimeLaboratory Technologist Lead to work in our busy Gainesville Laboratory. Our laboratory provides chemistry, hematology, immunology, virology and toxicology testing services to the more than 100+ SIMEDHealth providers.
Under the supervision of the Laboratory Division Manager, the Lead Clinical Laboratory Technologist will be responsible for the performance of, and meet all requirements of, the Laboratory Technologist job description. The Lead Clinical Laboratory Technologist will assume leadership and supervisory functions in the absence of the Laboratory Division Manager.
Qualified candidates will have:

• BS Degree in Medical Technology and/or health sciences related field PREFERRED
• Florida State License as a Supervisor in Chemistry, Hematology, Immunology (Serology) REQUIRED
• ASCP Certification as a Medical Technologist PREFERRED
• 5-10 years minimum experience in a laboratory health care setting REQUIRED

The Laboratory Technologist Lead will:

• Report to the Laboratory Division Manager
• Be available to the staff of the laboratory to provide assistance and guidance
• Be responsible for specific projects and duties as assigned by the Laboratory Division Manager
• Interact with the Laboratory Division Manager to provide insight and ideas when exploring new laboratory methods, instrumentation, and implementation of new policy and procedure(s)
• Participate in management projects, data collection, and proforma calculation for budgetary planning
• Train staff as appropriate in their area of expertise
• Meet with the Laboratory Division Manager on an ad hoc basis to discuss laboratory issues
• Be present during the interviews of potential employees
• Be responsible for other duties as necessary, not specifically defined in this job description
