Job Description:
1. At the direction of the CLIA License holder, supervises and ensures the quality, quantity, and reliability of the work performed by laboratory support staff. Relates laboratory services to the medical staff and patients. Assesses laboratory needs and utilization and explores sources and methods to meet that utilization. Assures compliance with all Consortium wide policies. Assures compliance with all outside regulatory policies and agencies such as HIPAA, JC, CLIA, COLA, and OSHA. Works with the LIS coordinator to maintain the lab LIS system. Maintains lab policy and procedure manuals.
2. At the direction of the CLIA license holder, plans, implements, coordinate, reviews and assures compliance with all laboratory quality control, proficiency testing, quality assurance, safety, accreditation, and preventive maintenance programs. Troubleshoots and resolves instrument and laboratory system failures.
3. Performs specimen collection and lab testing in all areas of the clinical laboratory. Routinely reviews patient reports to assure accuracy.
4. Serves as laboratory resource for all departments.
5. Works with the laboratory director to monitor operational costs and develops laboratory budget. Analyzes historical trends and data.
6. Acts as the lead tech and directs the work of others. Develops and monitors on going continuing education for lab and nursing personnel performing waived testing. Addresses concerns of internal and external customers.
Education/Experience:
· Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related sciences and minimum of 4 years of experience.
OR
· Associates in Medical Laboratory technology and a minimum of 6 years of experience.
Certification:
· National laboratory certification - ASCP or equivalent
Job Type: Contract
Salary: $78.00 - $79.00 per hour
