The Laboratory Technician I is responsible for supporting in the preparation, and analysis of cementitious materials for conformance to industry specifications. The role requires a good understanding of cement testing procedures and hands-on experience with cement and concrete materials.

Compensation
Responsibilities
- Maintain laboratory safety at its highest standards according to the company's guidelines and policies
- Assist laboratory personnel with duties that pertain to sampling, preparing, and collecting materials that are necessary for the testing of cementitious materials
- Assist with sample preparations and standard quality tests as related to physical analysis of cementitious materials by following the standard procedures (Safety procedures, ASTM, AASHTO, ACI, EPA, etc.) with a high degree of accuracy and precision
- Assist with concrete trial batches (i.e., Preparing, weighing material, and housekeeping)
- Assist with the collection and gradation of aggregate for the laboratory
- Inform and advise the laboratory manager upon observation of suspicious test results and change in equipment and laboratory conditions
- Maintain lab housekeeping, and inventory supplies to maintain continuity of quality control/quality assurance testing
- Support laboratory manager and staff with tasks in other areas within the central lab as needed

Education
- High school diploma/GED
- Degree in Chemistry, Geology, Material Science or Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field preferred
- Minimum 1-2 years of relevant experience

- Must be well-versed in the basics of Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint)

- Physical requirements: sitting, standing, stooping, and bending for long periods of time (up to 8 hrs. Frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds)
- ANSI-approved PPE will be provided and must be used when required
Conditions of Employment
Successful candidate must submit to a post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check. Some positions require FMCSA-regulated ongoing drug and alcohol testing.
