The Laboratory Technician is responsible for preparing samples to ensure correct composition for analysis. The Laboratory Technician will also participate in sample collection.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Prepare samples using laboratory equipment consistent with company Standard Operating Procedures
- Receive, unpack, inspect, sort, and label customer samples
- Sort, crush, pulverize, split, and screen samples
- Recognize and report any sample issues
- Maintain a clean working environment
- Provide excellent customer service with a professional attitude to ensure all customer expectations are met
- Ability to multi-task and stay organized in a fast-paced and changing environment
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Assist Laboratory Analysts in less complex laboratory tests and procedures
- Follow all company policies and procedures to ensure sample integrity and quality control
- Work in a safe manner and comply with all environmental, health, and safety requirements
Qualifications
- High school diploma
- Valid Driver's License
- WV Safety Sensitive Certification
- Experience with data entry and computer programs
- Experience in a lab or production setting preferred but not required
- Must be able to read, understand, and follow work instructions in a safe, accurate, and timely manner
- Proven effective time management skills and a strong attention to detail
- Ability to work well under pressure during demanding work periods to balance conflicting demands of high volume versus quality of results
- Capable of prioritizing tasks to meet goals and ensure product quality
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Physical strength to lift 50 lbs.
