Position Name: Laboratory Quality Manager
Reports To: Laboratory Services Director

Overview:
The Laboratory Quality Manager is responsible for ensuring that laboratory operations adhere to quality standards and regulatory requirements. They are responsible for maintaining quality management systems to guarantee accuracy, reliability, and compliance with industry standards.
Responsibilities:
1. Manage administrative and quality support staff
- Evaluate skills; ensure staff have the training and resources to safely and effectively perform their duties
- Develop relationships, provide feedback and coaching, delegate tasks
- Oversee bi-weekly admin staff meetings
2. Oversee training program for new administrative staff
3. Oversee QA/QC activities for asbestos (PCM, PLM, TEM), mold, and combustion
- Produce monthly quality summary reports
4. Assist the lab director and lab manager with maintaining accreditations
- Gain an understanding of ISO 17025, and NVLAP and AIHA requirements
- Enforce standard operating procedures and quality assurance protocols
- Conduct annual internal audits
- Conduct root cause analysis and produce preventive and corrective actions
5. Perform admin duties as needed
- Responding to client communications (phone, email)
- Report QA/QC and sample login
- Communicate sampling guidelines, discuss methods and limitations of analysis
- Resolve client issues and complaints
6. Assist lab manager with implementation of additional services
7. Report on lab progress, areas for improvement, and effectiveness of corrective measures implemented
8. Assist the lab director in sales and marketing efforts
9. Other reasonable activities required by management/leadership
Requirements:
College degree in a STEM field; experience in a laboratory setting, with progressively increasing responsibility; strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to identify and resolve complex quality issues.
