Overview
Holcim is engaged in decarbonating the world of contruction through development of innovative solution. For the O&G sector, Holcim has a three fold development strategy focusing on Low CO2 well cement, local manufacturing and solution for CO2 storage injection wells.
Responsibilities
The Houston O&G Laboratory Manager is in charge of validating the use of Holcim « Low CO2 Well cement » solutions for the cementing of the wells. He is also the Holcim reference O&G laboratory with respect to slurry testing for any customer (internal/external) worldwide.
Short description of the role
• Manage the Holcim Houston O&G laboratory _ laboratory equipment maintenance, material ordering, data management, payment, housekeeping, shipment and reception of samples etc… under yearly budget constraint
• Design and Execute the slurry testings required by the various projects, inc workload management
• Propose and test new solutions (inc. Validation protocols) to reduce the CO2 footprint of Holcim offer to the O&G sector
• Work with both internal Holcim well cement manufacturing sites (@10-15 API cement plants worldwide & Holcim Innovation center based in Lyon, France) and with customer laboratories.
• Support Holcim’s O&G representation in front of customers, especially on occasions of Face-to-face interaction in Houston or remotely
• Implement and execute a quality management system to always ensure the reliability of the testing results generated by the laboratory which is the Holcim reference laboratory.
Experience
• At least 5 years in O&G Cementing company laboratory ideally working on slurry optimization and development of new solutions for the industry
Knowledge and skills
• Strong mastery of all basic O&G laboratory testing equipment (inc maintenance of the equipment) and testing protocol (inc API 10A and API 10B standards).
• Strong understanding of all well-cementing activities
• Understanding of chemical additives to O&G industry
• Understanding of the API Q1 standard
• Knowledge on cement manufacturing is a plus
• Capacity to work independently with mostly remote interaction with internal and external stakeholders
• A "DOER" willing to work remotely from Corporate / Regional / Country offices
• Good communication skills both verbally and reporting (PowerPoint) to feedback on the testing results
• Usage of Microsoft/Google suites.
• Proficiency in SAP

The Houston O&G Laboratory manager reports to the Head of Industrial & Quality Natural Resouces and Energy _ currently based in Lyon (France), part of Holcim Group Marketing.
