JOB SUMMARY:
Located in beautiful Winston Salem, this successful Temporary Lab Assistant will support laboratory operations, perform maintenance functions, and complete non-technical routine laboratory tests and procedures.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
- Clean, sterilize, and maintain laboratory glassware, instruments, and cages.
- Manage inventory, replacing defective or broken equipment as needed.
- Maintain a sanitized work environment, including proper disposal of contaminants.
- Distribute supplies and assist in setting up laboratory equipment.
- Conduct routine laboratory tests and maintain records.
- Ensure the cleanliness and quality of laboratory equipment and supplies.
- Provide support for animal experiments, including restraint and anesthesia.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by management..
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to understand and follow simple oral and written directions
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
- Ability to operate laboratory equipment
- Knowledge of the maintenance of routine records and reports
- Ability to learn elementary laboratory techniques and safety precautions
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Research laboratory environment .Exposure to chemicals. Exposure to glass and other breakable objects. Possible exposure to animals. Possible exposure to bloodborne pathogens. May be required to work hours beyond typical 8 a.m.-5 p.m. schedule and/or evenings and weekends as needed.
