Description:
This position is for a Lab Assistant 2 in a BSL-2 and BSL-3 facility. Our mission is to find cures for neurodegenerative diseases and this includes working with prions. Our institute is composed roughly of 50 scientists, postdoctoral fellows and technicians.
Under the direction of the IND Lab Manager, the Lab Assistants will help with general operation of a large (approx square ft) lab. Training will be provided to follow specific IND lab procedures for support and the maintenance of the BSL-2 and BSL-3 labs.
In addition, the person in this position will be required to foster and strengthen personal and professional relationships within the IND.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:
•Graduation from high school or a General Education Diploma and two years of laboratory experience, or two years of college including courses in the natural, physical or social sciences and one year of laboratory experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; and knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position
•Previous BSL2/BSL3 work experience
•Previous experience using large autoclaves
•Basic computer knowledge
•Excellent communication skills
