Lab Technician - Ingredients Division

Location: Chicago, IL

Position Overview:
We are seeking an eager and curious Lab Technician to join our client's team in Chicago, IL. This individual will be working in a food testing laboratory. This person will primarily be responsible for benchtop/pilot sampling and lab management working heavily with different ingredients.

Responsibilities:

• Receive, label, and safely store ingredients and samples for testing.
• Perform benchtop and pilot-scale experiments and analyses, meticulously documenting and reporting results.
• Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of all equipment and processes involved in sample product creation.
• Engage in discussions and provide thorough answers to any questions regarding test results.
• Organize and store samples with a focus on personnel safety and sample integrity.
• Manage the sanitization and maintenance of the laboratory and equipment, including the recalibration of instruments.
• Maintain accurate equipment records and diligently log daily work activities.
• Prepare samples for testing, ensure proper packing, and oversee the shipping process.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor or Associate degree in a relevant scientific field (Food Science, Chemistry, etc)
• Food/CPG Industry knowledge
• Proven experience in a lab setting, showcasing adaptability in handling diverse tasks
  • Performing benchtop experiments, recording and analyzing data, etc.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a curious and proactive mindset.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
• Comfort with ambiguity and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ever-evolving environment.
• Knowledge of the following equipment; spectrometers, alcohol analyzers, refractometers, titrators, moisture analyzers, homogenizers, deep freezers.
