Lab Supervisor
Our Lab Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing operations of the laboratory on a day-to-day basis, to ensure the highest quality of output while meeting regulatory and compliance requirements. This includes, but is not limited to HPLC and GCMS testing, hydrocarbon extractions, vaporizer cartridge and other concentrate MIP production, dosing of MIP products, and inventory of lab consumables. The supervisor will ensure the lab department is compliant with company and industry standards.

Your role in caring for our company:
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Manage Lab Supervisor in the following functions:
  • Oversee and supervise the day-to-day operations of the laboratory department with emphasis on safety, accuracy, sanitation, and quality.
  • Provide leadership and direction to team members to create a positive and productive work environment.
  • Provide new team members with full training and perform additional training sessions with current employees as needed.
  • Ensure team is adhering to company SOPs and company policy in daily operations.
  • Clearly communicate expectations, goals, and schedules to the team.
  • Ensure that quality standards are maintained and continually improved.
  • Perform and oversee hydrocarbon extractions of cannabis material. This includes packing extraction columns, performing initial processing, collecting bulk concentrate material, and performing post-extraction steps.
  • Perform and oversee post-processing steps including rotary-evaporation, decarboxylation, and fractional distillation, concentrate agitation and purging with vacuum oven.
  • Perform and oversee the preparation, running, analysis, and verification of samples for HPLC, GCMS, and moisture analysis testing. Samples include flower, concentrates, and Marijuana Infused Products (MIP).
  • Run routine and timely check standards and calibrations for HPLC and GCMS machines.
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving when there are inconsistent, inconclusive, or troublesome HPLC or GCMS results.
  • Assist in the development and refinement of lab SOPs.
  • Perform and oversee the production of all vape cartridges. This includes creating bulk vape oil, filling the cartridges, capping cartridges, and cleaning/qc-ing.
  • Perform and oversee the production of all syringes. This includes creating syringe oil, filling syringes, and cleaning/qc-ing.
  • Perform and oversee the dosing of precursors for edible and MIP products.
  • Collaboration with packaging department to ensure all laboratory products are being correctly packaged. This includes thorough quality assurance checks.
  • Collaboration with kitchen department in precursor development, ensuring homogeneity in MIP production, and collecting random potency samples.
  • Collaboration with Processing & Packaging Department to collect flower samples for potency tests. This also includes collaboration to improve flower dry and cure techniques to increase potency and terpene retention.
  • Cleaning and maintaining laboratory equipment and lab areas. Following and enforcing standard operating procedures; complying with legal regulations; monitoring environment
  • Operating, maintaining, adjusting, cleaning, and repairing laboratory equipment such as extraction vessels, heaters/chillers, ovens, balances, vacuum pumps, and other laboratory equipment
  • Monitor METRC for inventory levels of all concentrate MIP products
  • Managing lab waste and accurately preparing for MPD pickup
  • Performing clerical work related to laboratory activities such as word processing, detailed record keeping, and filing
  • Ensure effective and timely communication of department information to managers, including team goals, progress, performance, objectives, obstacles, and other relevant information.
  • Submit daily production reports to management and maintain detailed records/daily operation logs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications we ask you to have:
  • For legal reasons, all employees need to be at least 21 years of age.
  • You will be asked to pass a Federal and State criminal history background check.
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in related Science, Public Health or Engineering
  • Five years of experience in a laboratory setting
  • Two years of solvent extraction experience in production setting
  • Three years of supervisor or management experience
  • Knowledge of scientific laboratory procedures and techniques as used in a chemistry laboratory.

Addition skills which will help you excel in your role:
  • Hydrocarbon extraction experience preferred.
  • HPLC and/or GCMS experience preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail with ability to keep precise, highly detailed, and accurate records of calculations, and procedures.
  • Mechanical inclination with the ability to monitor, maintain and troubleshoot/repair laboratory equipment.
  • Strong inventory management skills.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to coach and mentor others.
  • Strong Team building and training skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to provide technical leadership.
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong work ethics - be accountable and proactive.
  • Ability to adjust to a rapidly changing environment and pivot tasks as needed.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate others to perform well, and accept feedback from others; delegate work assignments, give authority to work independently, set expectations, and monitor delegated activities.
  • Ability to work at a fast pace in a high production environment!

  • This role will ask that you sit, walk, bend, and reach throughout your entire shift. There may be days where you stand the entire day, sit the entire day, etc. Please be flexible as needs will change.
  • This role is similar to an assembly line in that it will be completing repetitive tasks throughout the day.
  • You will be asked to carry loads of up to 50lbs repeatedly throughout the day.
  • As this is a cannabis growing facility, there will be strong odors, bright lights, and various noises throughout the workday.
  • Employees are asked to wear scrubs, masks, gloves, and hairnets while working with the products. DCM will provide scrubs, gloves, and hair nets to all employees.
