The Lab Supervisor manages, maintains, and operates the Chemical and Mechatronics labs. The position is responsible for assisting students, serving as a liaison between faculty, students, and any additional entities that may be involved with the labs such as suppliers, industry partners, etc.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Directs and manages the day-to day operation and activities; ensures assigned laboratories are compliant with university, state, and federal regulatory requirements related to safety and quality of laboratory operations as well as professional conduct in assigned areas; maintains a safe, clean, and quality operating environment in all assigned laboratories; maintains electronic and control equipment in the mechatronics laboratories; assists in the preparation/modification of the laboratory manual and chemical hygiene plan; and completes an annual inventory of laboratory chemicals, equipment, and materials/supplies.
Develops and teaches undergraduate laboratory classes; prepares laboratories for instruction; develops and improves standard operating procedures; performs routine maintenance of laboratories and related equipment; recommends and make requisitions for necessary chemicals, equipment, and materials/supplies; trains students to operate equipment related to assigned labs; and assists students with class projects and senior design projects requiring laboratory activity.
Coordinates with departmental, college, and university entities on outreach events, such as conferences, workshops, lab visits and tours, and promotional and recruitment activities; serves as departments' liaison with local community and industry; and performs other related duties as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a related field and two years of experience in academia or industry; and experience working with hazardous chemicals and operating chemical processes and other electronic equipment.
Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in related field and specific training and skills in LabVIEW or other control systems software.
