We are looking for a Lab Manager for our independent laboratory and consulting firm client. As a Lab Manager, you will oversee all laboratory employees, act as a client consultant, and contribute to industry-specific and internal professional development.

Responsibilities:
...- Identify, document, and ensure the required education, experience, and professional credentials for lab employees
- Select, train, document, supervise, and evaluate employees per IMS procedures
- Determine current and long-term staffing needs
- Authorize employees to perform specific tests and quality activities including method development, modification, verification, and validation of methods
- Ensure that only authorized and qualified personnel perform work that affects quality
- Set goals for employees
- Analyze results, including quality and statements of conformity or opinions and interpretations
- Review, approve, and sign test reports
- Install, troubleshoot, and maintain all laboratory equipment
- Maintain laboratory databases and archived all laboratory data per company protocols
- Provide necessary technical support to clients ensuring customer satisfaction
- Assist in sales and marketing of laboratory services
- Ensure safety compliance with proper authorities and obtain laboratory certifications
- Monitor laboratory productivity, efficiency, and finances
- Provide management reports to the management team
- Lead method development, modification, verification, and validation activities
- Participate in continuing training and development programs
- Manage the Integrated Management System
- Assume other functions such as Management Representative, Quality Manager, or Technical Manager as required
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry or a related field. An Associate of Science degree may be considered with 5 years of experience
- Skill in gas chromatography, liquid chromatography, infrared spectroscopy, and other advanced analytical techniques
- Skill in basic laboratory techniques
- Knowledge of the principles, practices, and methodology of laboratory operation, standard laboratory and quality control methods, standard laboratory safety and safe handling practices, and methods and standards used in the testing of electrical insulation materials
- Working knowledge of management and supervision principles including leadership and team-building skills to train, coach, and develop skills of employees
- Computer proficiency including familiarity with Microsoft Office software
- Excellent communication skills
Physical Requirements:
- Vision sufficient to read computer-printed or handwritten documents and machine displays
- Speech and hearing sufficient to communicate by phone or in person
- Mobility sufficient to move throughout the lab
- Ability to remain stationary at work post
- Ability to remain standing and use upper-body motion
- Ability to reach, lift, and bend to retrieve materials or equipment
