Lab Courier- Weekends

LABORATORY COURIER JOB DESCRIPTION

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Picks up and delivers biological specimens and supplies, assuring that specimens are transported carefully and at the correct temperature to ensure that the samples’ integrity is not compromised.

• Picks up specimens from private doctors’ offices, nursing homes and Patient Service Centers

(PSC) according to the route sheets and schedules.

• Delivers supplies to clients in and around the five boroughs of New York and New Jersey.

• Communicates all unresolved problems immediately to the supervisor.

• Completes the required logs fully and accurately.

• Required having knowledge of multiple routes to back up assigned drivers.

• Communicates appropriately with clients, coworkers and the general public.

• Package specimens for transport.

• Maintains required records and documentation.

• Participates in all required training including HIPPA and Safety.

• Follows safety procedures.

Education and Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent

• Valid state driver’s license with clean driving records

• Must be able to lift 50lbs

• Must be flexible and available based on staffing requirements; weekends, holidays, on call and overtime

• Prior knowledge of medical specimens and or medical supplies helpful but not required

• Good customer service skills necessary

• Prior medical courier experience and prior customer service experience helpful but not required

• Ability to read a map *
• To have a personal car is required
• Gas card & E-Z pass provided
