Job description

Part time 16 hours/week - Saturday-Sunday
6:30am to 3:00pm
Provides professional and courteous courier service to Vancouver Clinic and other Outreach clients. Will also work with healthcare team members to support the accurate and timely processing of laboratory specimens. Performs CLIA-waived laboratory testing at the point of care following appropriate training.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Transports laboratory specimens, reports, and supplies between Vancouver Clinic facilities and Lab Outreach clients.
  • Performs administrative duties, including completing vehicle inspection sheets, specimen tracking logs, point of care test result and QC logs, and all other applicable documentation.
  • Performs Vancouver Clinic vehicle care, including cleaning and minor maintenance.
  • Adheres to policy and procedure for specimen handling and transportation to maintain specimen integrity for high quality laboratory testing.
  • Participates in training and quality assurance programs and assists with the training of other Lab Couriers.
  • Performs CLIA-waived laboratory testing at the point of care, as assigned. Accurately reports waived test results and notifies of abnormal results according to procedure.
  • Label and process laboratory specimens according to established guidelines.
  • Practices client sensitivity and discretion at all times. Maintain the confidentiality of patient and company information.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate record-keeping.
  • Proficiency with keyboarding and basic computer functions.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid Washington State driver’s license with no restrictions.
  • Must have an acceptable driving record as defined by Vancouver Clinic.
  • Two years of professional driving experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
Pay Range:
$17.28 - $24.19

PTO and Personal Time accruals are pro-rated by FTE/hours worked. Non-benefits eligible employees will accrue Personal Time based on hours worked and State worked.
