St. Catherine’s is located on the north shore of Long Island in Smithtown. The campus is comprised of 296-bed not-for-profit community hospital; a 240-bed nursing and rehabilitation care center; and a 60,000 square foot medical office building. DUTIES:
- Assists patients through the registration process and places orders in the laboratory information system.
- Expedites the flow of specimens from receipt in lab to delivery to performing departments.
- Responsible for answering the telephones and processing requests for patient reports and results.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school graduate or GED equivalency.
- Computer/office skills/secretarial courses desirable.
- Minimum 2-3 years previous clerical experience preferred.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- General computer skills required.
- Position also requires ability to operate general office equipment and communication devices such as telephones, fax machines and photocopy machines.
- Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively with laboratory staff, patients, families, physicians, outside agencies and other hospital personnel.
