Primary Function of Position:
* Comparative Medicine focuses on animal welfare, employee safety and efficiency to enable an internal clinical environment for use by the research and development and training organizations. The Comparative Medicine team simultaneously supports a multitude of product and procedure development programs to allow expedited iteration and evolution of our products and procedures.
* The Comparative Medicine Technician 1 primary function is to, under limited supervision, perform moderately complex technical work and operational support in a wide range of clinical R&D and training workstreams and to achieve compliance with federal, state, and local standards and governmental regulatory requirements within the CM ORs and Training labs.
Roles and Responsibilities:
In addition to general support within the CM ORs and Training labs
Vet Tech Duties:
• Understands requirements to remain "inspection ready" and participates in audits for compliance
• Assists in planning daily activities (breaks, lunches, setup for next day
Lab Ops Duties:
• Able to identify/reprocess more advanced instrumentation
• Assist in training entry level team members
• Participate in regulatory audits
All:
• Radiation safety
• Assist in revision of DOPs, WIs, JHAs as assigned
• Performs supplemental tasks required for laboratory logistics and operations with appropriate oversight.
• Regulatory-understands inspection readiness and makes sure area of work is always inspection ready
• Perform other duties as required to support the company's overall strategy and goals
Skill/Job Requirements:
• HS diploma minimum, AS preferred (vet tech programs, biology, animal science preferred). Contractor conversion, generally with minimum 18 months experience OR prior experience in animal setting (lab animal or clinic) including giving IM injections, placing catheters and anesthesia experience.
• Within one year of hire/promotion, obtain ALAT certification. In addition, individual may hold a minimum of one internationally recognized certification related to laboratory animal medicine or veterinary technical skills (e.g. RVT, ALAT, LAT, LATG, ASR, KLAT1/KLATII, SLAT, JLAST, etc).

• May be exposed to radiation or electromagnetic fields, lasers, noise ? 80dB TWA, allergens/biohazards/chemicals (cautery smoke)
