Job Description
- The Warehouse Operator Level 1 position will report to the Warehouse Lead as part of an overall warehouse job functions.
- The Warehouse Associate level 1 will work closely with the Warehouse Lead to ensure all day to day warehouse functions are executed.
- The Warehouse Associate level 1 will communicate with all departments (Kitchen, Pack, QA, and Maintenance) to ensure that all departments have their materials needed for the day.
- The Warehouse Associate level 1 will also set up the day to day as it relates to shipping and receiving to ensure that loads are received and shipped in a timely manner.
- The Warehouse Associate level 1 will be required to follow all Quality, GMP, Safety, Production, Training and Housekeeping requirements.
- Level 1 associate will follow all verbal and or written instructions from the Warehouse Lead and Warehouse Manager and any other Managers that may need warehouse functions completed.
- The Warehouse 1 position will help unloading and instruct contractors on Land O'Lakes policies.
Warehouse Operator Level 1: Position Expectations
- The Level 1 position will be able to confidently move about the entire warehouse operations and do the expected work for both Shipping and Receiving as indicated below.
- Warehouse Level 1 Associate will be able to train a new hire on Shipping & Receiving functions, which include picking orders, using the RF unit, using the printer, stretch wrap machine, and overall warehouse functions as outlined in the warehouse training SOP.
- Maintains cleanliness in assigned areas. This is mandatory at the end of shift that each employee handle clean and dispose of garbage in designated areas.
- Works with Quality Control as a shipping inspector. This is a process that the Stand-up Double Reach forklift operator can be able to detect issues within the product, identify trailer integrity issues and any environmental issues the carrier may bring onto site.
- Forklift Operator will have knowledge of Allergen controls and Materials management. Being aware of not mixing allergen with non-allergen. Combining like products to ensure that warehouse capacity is being utilized to its full potential
- Assists with other warehouse duties as needed. This includes proper placement of seals on trucks, shipping out sample orders via UPS system and or FedEx.
- Work in conjunction with R & D to ensure new product lines are shipped and labeled properly. This also includes coordination of where product is going, proper labeling and any special requirements with keeping product within guidelines of specifications.
- Have knowledge of temperature control within refrigerated warehouse. This is ensuring that temperatures in the warehouse, trailers and product are within Land O Lakes guidelines.
- Possess the understanding on flammable and non-flammable flavors that may come into the plant. How to identify these products and where to store
- Possess the understanding on how to double stack and triple stack pallets.
- Works in conjunction with EHS to ensure outside grounds and potential spills related to trucks and product coming onto the site are cleaned up.
- Warehouse Associate 1 will be asked from time to time to handle chemicals associated with dairy plant sanitation. Associate will be required to install drum lifter for chemical movement, understanding of chemical clean up and chemical reactions to each other so to avoid toxic fumes.
- Possess an understanding of how to use Safetec for SDS purposes and how to mitigate potential SIP, SIFS and near misses.
- Be able to clean up spills and understand how to read an SDS sheet and clean up accordingly.
- Responsible for delivering Environmental samples and performing monthly environmental walks.
- Understanding and complies with requirements of Lot Track and Trace. Being able to identify risk associated with Canadian loads and its requirements to labeling.
- Attends monthly warehouse meetings, SOP meetings, safety meetings, and pass downs.
- May be asked to attend or be part of a continuous improvement and safety committee team.
- Operates a Stand-up Double Reach forklift in a safe and orderly manner. This includes both Stand-up Double Reach stand up counterbalanced forklifts and sit-down counter balance. The forklift operator must be able to pass a written and practical test, which is valid for 3 years. This forklift certification test, is in accordance with OSHA, CFR 1910.178(1)
- Maintains a safe and orderly storage arrangement for all items handled.
- Possess a strong understanding of pallet diagrams, load patterns, ti x hi.
- Handles reloading and loading of trucks. On occasion, loads may be overweight on the front or back axle. This requires looking at a weight ticket and understand where the load has a discrepancy and correct the issues accordingly.
- Stocks and takes inventory of picking orders for staging. Ability to communicate with Warehouse Lead to ensure orders are picked and staged using Kozy Shack shipping order process in DSI.
- Coordinate with Pack room for properly moving product to other locations using DSI.
- Has knowledge and understanding of charging forklift batteries, how to connect a forklift to a battery charger and functionality to ensure batteries are properly charged.
- Understand ASN locations and how pallets are certified from pack room.
- On occasion, assists with maintaining outside grounds inspections, ensuring food security such as gates, doors and high-speed doors are working properly. Understanding of parking lot, dock safety, dock door and dock pit cleanliness.
- May be asked to get on a rack to unjam a pallet that is stuck. This requires an understanding of how to properly adhere to Land O'Lakes fall protection policy.
- Ability to receive and store incoming items according to established system (DSI, and Catalyst E-1).
- Maintains a safe and orderly storage arrangement for all items handled.
- Possess a strong understanding of slip-sheet operation. This includes breaking down pallets using this mechanism of push and pull.
- Stocks and takes inventory of picking orders for staging. Ability to communicate with Planner and understand scheduling, filler, and packing line set up.
- Attend production/Pack meetings to ensure new processes are adhered.
- Participate in operations activities to ensure that 5S standards and processes are adhered.
- Knowledge and understanding of FIFO/FEFO, Cycle Counts and the ability to problem solve issues that arise from improper warehouse inventories.
- Understanding of basic math skills and the ability to read spreadsheets. Spreadsheet may be in the form of a COA, Production schedule, other vendors bill of lading and quantities that come in on loads.
- Provide quality customer service interactions with drivers, vendors, auditors and plant personnel.
- Ability to work in a team environment and independently.
- Must be flexible with schedule times to ensure coverage for department employees who are away.
