Kitchen Steward / Dishwasher

SALARY: $18/ hour + Tips

COMPANY OVERVIEW:

MEA, named by The New York Times as “the world’s first midlife wisdom school,” provides 5-day workshops where participants, together with a team of MEA facilitators explore topics revolving around transitions, finding purpose, and owning wisdom, under the principle that wisdom is shared, not taught. Participants spend their time over the workshop in a combination of classroom and experiential modules, in the comfort of upscale accommodations that one could expect from a luxury boutique hotel.

JOB SUMMARY:

The purpose of a Steward is to clean and sanitize all dishes and areas of the kitchen and assist with the food and beverage operation according to MEA standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Checks dish machine, drains tank, reassembles the machine, refills the tank and insures dish machine is ready to operate before meals.
• Removes trash containers from food production area when needed.
• Understands and uses safety procedures when using all equipment. Understands chemical hazards and follows safety procedures when using chemicals, chemical compounds and cleaning products.
• Knows correct temperature for washing, rinsing, and pre-soaking of all pots, pans, utensils, plates, glasses, etc.
• Assists kitchen when necessary
• Performs side duties as requested including cleaning, setting up presoaking solution, organizing and cleaning of storerooms and wet and dry storage areas, and cleaning of equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or general education degree preferred
• Previous food service and/or dishwashing experience preferred

REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to interpret standard operating procedures, safety, and sanitation instructions.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
• The person having this position may have to lift up to fifty (50) pounds daily; anything over fifty (50)pounds is considered a minimum two (2) person lift.
• The person having this position may have to sit, stand and/or walk, push, kneel, bend, balance, squat, reach and stretch for eight (8) hours per day.

The position is onsite in Lamy, NM.

The team member is expected to work 40 hours a week, days and hours based on the needs of scheduled programming. The team member may expect calls or emails outside of scheduled working hours.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: From $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
