RESPONSIBILITIES OF A KITCHEN MANAGER:
- Prepare and/or cook all meals for staff and campers
- Effectively supervise the camp kitchen team
- Create and implement a healthy menu that caters to the needs of campers and staff
- Purchases and inventories food while managing and maintaining the budget
- Ensure food orders are accurate and made in a timely manner
- Maintains the health departments requirements to ensure a safe and clean area
- Role model the YMCA of Northern Utah’s professional standards
- Participate and contribute in Support Staff meetings
- Follows all policies, procedures, and standards as established by the law or the Y (e.g., kitchen safety practices, emergency procedures, child abuse prevention policies)
- Nurtures children through purposeful programming; plans activities that are intended to achieve program goals and outcomes, are culturally relevant, are developmentally appropriate, and are consistent with the Y’s values
- Creates a positive rapport with all youth and staff
- Attends and participates in family nights, staff meetings, and staff training
- Work alongside entire camp staff throughout the program week and on the last day of program to clean the facility.

REQUIREMENTS OF A KITCHEN MANAGER:
- Minimum 21 years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent; one year or more of college preferred
- Serve safe certificate required
- Ability to work within a budget and purchase supplies efficiently
- Knowledge of and experience in food service: ordering, inventory, budgeting, food preparation, family style serving, buffet serving, cleaning, and institutional kitchen equipment
- Knowledge of and experience in preparation of special dietary foods
- Knowledge in safely and properly using kitchen equipment
- Positive attitude and ability to build a cohesive team
- CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications required; will be provided in training if candidate does not have current certification
- Meet the YMCA of Northern Utah Driver Requirements
- Previous experience working with children and staff in a camp setting preferred
- Previous experience working with diverse populations
- Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different background
- Commitment to inclusion and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
