Helena School District # 1 has openings for KinderSprouts/School Aged Child Care (SACC) Para Educator(s). These postions are presently assigned to the Central Elementary School SACC program.
Positions provide support for the KinderSprouts Preschool program and may be employed for four (4) hours in the morning (8:00 am to 12:00 pm); or four (4) hours in the afternoon (12:00 pm to 4:00 pm) or eight (8) hours per school day (8:00 am to 4:00 pm) depending on interest. These positions are scheduled to begin in January 2024. Prior successful experience working with and around preschool age children is desired. As a KinderSprouts/SACC Para Educator, you contribute to this mission by assisting the SACC Site Manager in the overall operations of the daily program activities. You will work as part of a team of 40 serving 125 students on 11 campuses across Helena.
Some of what you will do:

• Provide careful and effective supervision of children's activities as assigned by the site manager. Circulate among children, redirecting individuals into positive play and by pointing out alternative activities.
• Assist children in maintaining standards of appropriate behavior and health habits established for the program by using non-punitive disciplinary methods and positive reinforcement strategies as demonstrated by the site manager (refer to Assertive Discipline Guidelines).
• Cooperate with other program staff to create and maintain a harmonious and efficient environment.
• Interact positively with parents and refers appropriate questions and concerns to site manager, including but not limited to: payment, scheduling and discipline questions.
• Perform clerical (attendance sheets) and housekeeping duties as assigned including but not limited to: snack preparation and clean up, project preparation and clean up.
• Oversee the appropriate use and storage of equipment and materials.
• Provide support in planned activities such as field trips, visiting resource persons, etc.
• Maintain a safe and orderly program environment.

To become part of this dedicated team, you need:

• High school diploma or equivalent;
• Experience as a licensed or registered group or family day care provider or day care center staff experience; or have a bachelors degree in education or related field is preferred.
• Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience as determined by the District.
• An age qualification may exist for licensure.

The successful candidate should have the ability to successfully work with children PreK-5. Successful applicant must possess the ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds with or without reasonable accomodation.
Current entry level salary range is $14.66 to $18.16 per hour depending on education level and applicable relevant work experience and includes a generous pro-rated benefit package including but not limited to paid sick and vacartion leave, 3 paid personal days, 9 paid holidays 9 paid school calendar related days, health benefit option: and retirement. Salary amounts for 2023-2024 are presently undetermined. Salaries will be adjusted accordingly.
