Position Description
POSITION TITLE:Kindergarten Teacher Aide - Early ChildhoodAssistant Teacher
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High School graduate or GED and pass state qualifying test.
2. Hold or qualify for ECCAT Authorization. This position requires completion of 2 ECCAT courses.
3. Experience with handicapped children preferred.
4. First aid training preferred.
REPORTS TO: Principal and Supervising Teacher
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. To work with individual or small groups of children to reinforce learning material and skills planned by teacher.
2. Keep all data and family information confidential.
3. To monitor individual activities, learning centers, etc. assigned by teacher.
4. To assist the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing learning based on individual needs, interests, and abilities as planned by the teacher.
5. To help children utilize equipment and/or instructional materials assigned by the teacher.
6. To assist students with lunch, snacks, physical needs, clean-up/wash-up, toilet routine, occupational therapy, physical therapy and operates specialized equipment (i.e.,catherization) under direction of teacher and/or health care professional.
7. To assist with the supervision of children during playground periods and field trips.
8. To assist the teacher in preparation of activities on an ongoing basis.
9. To assist with any other responsibilities deemed necessary by the teacher for the successful operation of the program.
10. Ability to relate to and work with others.
11. Ability to organize and manage time.
