Sangamon ROE 51 - websiteThe Menard-Sangamon Regional Office of Education #51 is seeking to employ KIDS Coaches from racially diverse backgrounds, from various regions throughout the State of Illinois,
to ensure equitable access to and participation in the KIDS program for students and teachers.
A KIDS coach will organize professional learning and coaching around equitable learning environments, developmentally appropriate practices, and KIDS data.
Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with the KIDS Coaching & Professional Development Coordinator and KIDS coaches;
• Work with district classroom teachers and administrators to support student learning in all content areas;
• Provide on-site support & coaching to teachers and administrators on a monthly basis;
• Create positive relationships with teachers and administrators;
• Facilitate the intellectual & professional development of teachers;
• Communicate & demonstrate research-based instructional practices that result in increased student performance and improved classroom environment;
• Assist teachers with designing instructional decisions based on assessment data and equitable learning environments and practices;
• Travel to districts, meetings & trainings across the state - required;
• Collect data/provide documentation related to coaching to the KIDS Coordinator, as directed;
• Participate in required training and other activities, including monthly meetings, as directed;
• Analyze, interpret, and aggregate quantitative & qualitative data at the district and state level to determine support needs;
• Remain up-to-date on current researched-based instructional strategies that engage all students.
Qualifications:
• Professional Educator License (PEL) endorsed in Early Childhood or Elementary Education or equivalent required;
• Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education, or related field preferred;
• Early Childhood or Kindergarten classroom teaching experience required (3 or more years preferred);
• Two or more years in providing comprehensive professional learning and coaching to adults in early childhood education at the regional, state, or national levels;
• Bilingual preferred;
• Experience working with diverse population, including those with disabilities & English Learners;
• Expertise with observational formative assessment required;
• Knowledge on the administration of statewide programs and assessments similar to KIDS, including, but not limited to the survey instrument;
• Experience in the development and implementation of kindergarten readiness programs;
• Strong analytical skills & attention to detail;
• Ability to manage multiple tasks & priorities;
• Ability to be proactive in helping develop& structure new, effective processes;
• Ability to work well independently & under direction;
• Strong command of oral & written language.
