Job Description

Kennel Technician for Doggy Daycare - Training Facility

Are you a dog lover looking for an exciting opportunity to work with furry friends? K9 Lifeline has the perfect role for you! We're currently seeking a Kennel Technician to join our vibrant team of animal enthusiasts. As one of our Kennel Technicians, you'll be responsible for the well-being and happiness of the dogs in our facility. Our staff really get to make a difference in the lives of the dogs we work with and their families. We work hard and love what we do. If that sounds like your kind of place, then keep reading.

Full-Time Positions Available

We are always seeking people who are passionate about helping dogs and their humans create better bonds. We have open positions for Kennel Technicians. An ideal candidate will be someone who is passionate about dogs and not afraid of hard work. We are biased – but we are pretty sure we are the best place to work! And we really believe that we are changing the world for dogs and their humans.

  • The people here are so nice. The clients are amazing and our staff love working with their dogs. It’s our happy place.
  • K9 Lifeline is the BEST training model and is unique in the field of daycare and boarding.
  • We have dogs of all ages, sizes, and breeds and they love to have a place where dogs can be dogs.
  • The work we do is rewarding. K9 Lifeline is a training-based facility, meaning we help dogs of all temperaments learn better behaviors. When you see a mean and scary dog transform into a squish monster, you recognize why our work is so important.
  • This is a place where you can be challenged. The job responsibilities are the same, but different dogs and different groups give you the chance to enhance your skills as a K9 Lifeline kennel tech.
  • We aren’t big on drama. We expect you to work efficiently and keep the dogs safe, but everything we do here is for the dogs and what is best for them.
  • Optional scheduling to help you have more time for yourself and your family. We offer either 4 10-hour shifts or 3 12-hour shifts each week, which means you can have either 3 or 4 days off every week!
  • After 60 days, you are eligible for a full benefits package including health, vision, and dental insurance, employer-matched IRA, flex spending account, tip sharing, and more.
  • Free Doggie Daycare for up to 2 of your personal dog(s) after 2 weeks of training

Advancement Opportunities
We always promote from within at K9 Lifeline. We want to reward our best staff and recognize the work they do. Those who demonstrate commitment to the betterment of the dogs are the first ones given promotion opportunities, including leadership and dog training. You can be part of this by having excellent attendance, spreading a good attitude, and striving to master the skills expected of a K9 Lifeline kennel tech.

Compensation:

$13.45 hourly

Responsibilities:

  • Feed and administer medications to dogs
  • Give dogs potty breaks and clean up after them
  • Supervise dogs in a social environment and ensure that things are safe for everyone
  • Maintain organization of all areas
  • Deep cleaning of kennels and social rooms
  • Taking dogs for walks, play sessions, or giving them massages for VIP dogs
  • Interact with pet owners in a friendly and professional manner
  • Learn K9 Lifeline's training process to create calm dogs
  • Learn to understand dog behavior so that we can provide detailed reports to the owners

Qualifications:

  • You need to be the type of person who enjoys being around dogs. You will be around them all day, every day. You will get slobbered on. You will come home covered in dog hair. You will have to clean up animal waste
  • The ideal candidate acts with patience and compassion. Sometimes dogs are stubborn, so it's important for a Kennel Technician to be patient and compassionate while ensuring all rules are followed
  • This is a physical job. You will need to be able to lift at least 25 pounds and be able to be on your feet for long periods of time
  • A Kennel Technician should have sharp attention to detail to ensure the dogs are receiving the right amount of food, medication, and exercise, and that their living spaces are clean and safe
  • Eagerness to learn. K9 Lifeline's programs and processes are unique. Other dog trainers come from around the world to learn from us and take their knowledge back to their facilities. We expect our staff to have the same enthusiasm for serving the dogs and giving them the best possible care. There are times when you will be working with a team and times when you will need to work independently, so you should consistently seek to better your skills
  • A positive attitude is a must. This job is physically and mentally demanding, so our staff needs to support each other every day at work. No matter the task, the dog, or the day, we should have the same excitement and happiness as the dogs in our care
  • A Kennel Technician works as part of a team to ensure a positive environment for the dogs, so being able to work collaboratively with others is essential

In short, your job is to serve the dogs and have fun doing it. (Who wants a job that isn’t fun?). Our workplace is laid back, but we do expect professionalism and punctuality!

But what we don’t expect is perfection or existing skills for you to qualify for this job. We can teach you what you need to know, in fact, we prefer to train everyone in our methods anyway.
