Shores Animal Hospital is seeking an energetic professional to be a part of our fast-paced team. We are a small animal practice with a beautiful, 7000+ square foot, state of the art hospital. We strive to offer the gold standard of care to every client and patient that we see. Our hospital has a fully-equipped surgical suite, digital radiology suite, digital dental radiology, cold laser therapy, an ultrasound suite, and a complete in-house diagnostic laboratory. By offering private suites for many of our services our patients can relax, not be distracted by others around them and have a less stressful visit.
Our hospital is located just outside the heart of Gainesville, home to the University of Florida. While we are close to the University, we are nestled in an area surrounded by family communities. The Kennel Manager is responsible for providing a clean, efficient and healthy environment for the grooming animals and/or boarders at the boarding facility. A day in the life of a Kennel Manager:

  • Ensure the cleanliness of the boarding facility, including kennel area, runs, exercise area, and outside grounds.
  • Feed hospitalized animals and boarders.
  • Monitor and record important information about the animals' conditions, behavior and habits (elimination, eating, etc.).
  • Walk animals three times a day. Ensure pets in DayCare receive playtime at least 3 times a day.
  • Notify the Doctor or a Veterinary Technician/Assistant of unusual medical or behavioral problems.
  • Clean all facilities areas daily.
  • Maintain laundry throughout the day and keep laundry area neat.
  • Monitor and maintain the kennel inventory to include food, cleaning supplies, laundry supplies, etc.
  • Onboarding and training of kennel staff, ongoing staff management and leadership.
  • Perform other duties as assigned that assist the Doctor, Receptionist and Veterinarian Technicians/Assistants in the smooth flow and operation of the clinic, care of clients and service to the clients.
  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • Flexible schedule including some weekend/holiday shifts.
  • Must have computer skills, including a working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Must possess strong communication skills, good judgment and be able to manage stressful situations.
  • Must have the physical and mental capacity to perform in a fast paced and challenging environment.
  • Must be able to lift 50+ lbs.
  • Previous experience as a kennel assistant, management experience preferred, but not required.
