As part of our dedicated team, the Animal Enrichment Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring that every pet in our care receives the mental and physical stimulation they need for a happy and healthy stay.
Job Description Specific Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Design and implement engaging enrichment activities for dogs of various breeds, sizes, and energy levels
- Assess individual dog needs and preferences to tailor enrichment plans accordingly
- Coordinate and supervise group play sessions, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all dogs
- Introduce new toys, puzzles, and activities to enhance mental stimulation and prevent boredom
- Facilitate one-on-one interactions with dogs requiring special attention or personalized activities
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of enrichment areas, including sanitizing toys and equipment
- Collaborate with the daycare team to integrate enrichment into the daily routine
- Monitor and document dog behavior, noting any concerns or changes for communication with owners
- Stay informed about current trends and advancements in canine enrichment to continually enhance programs
- Provide exceptional customer service by communicating effectively with dog owners and addressing their inquiries
Specific Requirements:
- Patience, compassion, and a genuine love for dogs
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time both indoors and outdoors
- (Able to be physically active from beginning to end of shift)
- Work with small and large dogs various breeds, sizes and activity levels
- Ability to walk two dogs at the same time
- Great customer service skills
- Excellent communication skills (Ability to Communicate to Team Members and Clients)
- Ability to work well within a team environment
- Strong observation skills to assess/respond to individual/group dynamics among dogs
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
- Lifting is required (50+lbs)
- A positive and proactive attitude with a commitment to providing exceptional care
Experience is Required:
Personal Pet care will not be considered as experience
- Previous paid experience working with dogs in a professional setting
- (Canine Daycare, Training, or Veterinary Environment)
- Knowledge of canine behavior, basic training principles, and breed-specific characteristics
- Basic first aid and CPR certification for canines is a plus.
- College in relevant field (vet tech, animal sciences, etc)
Professional references may be requested.
Average pay is based on experience and ranges between $16.00- $21.00 per/hr.
