Job Summary
To achieve our promise to protect the pets entrusted to our care, no role is more important than the Animal Care Specialist. Working with a team of like-minded individuals dedicated to animal care, this position will ensure a safe facility for all pets attending to their physical and emotional health while maintaining a kennel environment that meets our standard of excellence.
Essential Job Functions
· Transport animals to and from the kennels.
· Maintain organized facility by following specific guidelines for placement of kennel materials such as food, bowls, laundry, leashes, halite, and medication.
· Follow specific protocols for cleaning the kennel facility including runs, crates, drains, floors, dog bowls, and laundry.
· Accurately follow measurement appropriations and feeding directions for each pet, per client instructions.
· Assist with dog rotations and playgroup setups throughout shift at prescribed times.
· Learn and follow the color-coded caution system.
· Ensure that the animals have ample, fresh food and water at all times.
· Complete all task lists and checklists within prescribed timelines.
· Accompany animals on walks, if required.
· Report significant changes in functioning to the Veterinarian or medical professional on duty.
· Evacuate all animals if an emergency occurs.
Qualifications
· 1+ years of animal care experience required.
· Professional pet industry experience strongly preferred.
· Passionate about animal welfare; treats all animals with compassion and kindness.
· Comfortable interacting with all breeds large and small.
· Experience entering, retrieving and maintaining customer databases.
· Follow rotating work schedule e.g. nights, weekends, and holidays.
· Reliable and dependable. Maintain excellent attendance and punctuality.
· Strong work ethic. Sets high standards for self and others.
Computer Skills
· Must be able to learn and efficiently use One Note, When I Work, and Go Daddy email.
· Must be able to learn new technology in accordance with business needs.
Physical Demands
· Position requires a person to be both indoors and outdoors.
· Majority of the day is spent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing.
· Must be able to lift 50 pounds regularly.
· Must be comfortable working with a wide variety of animals including small and large dogs.
· Must be able to work around pet hair and dander.
· Must be able to climb 2 flights of stairs multiple times per day.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $16.00 - $18.50 per hour
Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
