Job Title: Keeper Lee G. Simmons Conservation Park and Wildlife Safari Located in Ashland Nebraska

Hours: Full-time

Summary:

Omahas Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium is seeking a Zoo Keeper at the Wildlife Safari Park to provide daily husbandry and care of a wide variety of animals, as well as the feeding and cleaning of animal enclosures. Must be willing to work in a fast-paced and highly changing environment. This position requires some flexibility as keeper may be moved from area to area as needed. Keepers must be able to list 50 pounds routinely, work holidays and weekends, and have a valid drivers license. This position reports directly to the Supervisor at the Wildlife Safari Park.

Duties and Responsibilities (include but not limited to):

• Responsible for maintaining animal care, cleaning, and feeding.
• Additionally, keepers will be required to record observations and provide animals with appropriate enrichment.
• Assist in hand rearing animals.
• Maintain food and cleaning supplies in all areas.
• Assist in all park projects.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required:

• Bachelors degree in Zoology, Biology, or related field is preferred.
• Must have good communication skills.
• Knowledge of animal husbandry for various species.
• Ability to work independently or with others.
• Must be creative and innovative in cage design and enrichment activities for animals.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort:

• Work is done indoors and outdoors, all types of weather and environmental conditions are possible.
• Moderate physical effort is required.
• Exposure to physical risk is possible.
• This position has a variable schedule including weekends and holidays.
• Applicants must have a valid state driver's license.
• Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
• Applicant must have a Tuberculosis Test completed prior to employment.

Candidates might be (depending on position) required to pass a pre-employment background check, drug test, negative skin tuberculosis test, and possess a valid driver's license with a good history.
