Credit Research Analyst within the K2 Investment Management Team
What is the K2 Investment Management Team responsible for?
The Investment Management Research Team is responsible for hedge fund manager selection and due diligence, ongoing manager coverage, portfolio construction, and support for our marketing and client service efforts.
What are the ongoing responsibilities of a Credit Research Analyst?
The Research Analyst is going to work with the rest of the investment management team to support the efforts listed above, with a particular focus on credit and related hedge fund strategies, such as corporate and structured credit, private credit, distressed, event-driven, and relative value opportunities. Specific responsibilities include:
- Analysis and screening of the hedge fund manager universe
- Meetings with prospective and current hedge fund managers
- Attending industry conferences
- Preparation of written research reports and quantitative analytics on individual hedge fund managers
- Market research on various hedge fund strategies
- Maintenance of manager data in various databases
- Support of marketing and client service efforts with timely and insightful market, strategy, and manager commentary.
This is a full-time on-site position based in Stamford, CT (typically 3-4 days in the office, 1-2 days remote).
What ideal qualifications would help someone to be successful?
- B.S., B.A., B.B.A., or a graduate degree, preferably in Economics, Finance, or related fields.
- CFA or CAIA designation is welcomed, though not required.
- 4-6+ years of experience within the financial markets, ideally in a manager selection or allocator role with a focus on alternatives (e.g., at a fund of funds, endowment, consultant, or a family office).
- A keen interest in the financial markets and alternative investment strategies.
- A solid baseline knowledge of quantitative analysis and/or statistics.
- Polished and professional communication and interpersonal skills with particular focus on writing.

Along with base compensation, other compensation is offered such as a discretionary bonus, 401k plan, health insurance, and other perks. There are several factors taken into consideration in making compensation decisions including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. At Franklin Templeton, we apply a total reward philosophy where all aspects of compensation and benefits are taken into consideration in determining compensation. We expect the salary for this position to range between USD $130,000 - $170,000.
