Providence Hall is a charter school located in Herriman UT. Central to the school's mission is teaching students to think critically, communicate effectively, and act responsibly.

Students at the elementary participate in the ​​International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP) School, ​where the focus is to have to have engaging, relevant, challenging and significant​ learning that focuses around six global themes.​

Students at the junior high participate in pathways that focus their classes in areas that not only meet state standards, but also support their individual interests, foster their desires to try something new, and aim to prepare them for transition to high school.

Students at the high school engage in classes that prepare them for college and career readiness through the AP scholars program, concurrent enrollment, and CTE.

Providence Hall seeks a highly skilled and enthusiastic Special Education Teacher with a severe endorsement who supports the school's values of inclusive education, academic excellence, and inquiry-based learning to join our team. As a Special Education Teacher who serves the needs of students with severe needs, you care for physical facilities and student behavior, teach exciting and differentiated lessons that engage all students with the goal of the academic and social success of each student, evaluate student performance, report regularly to parents/guardians, and build student skills consistently to improve their performance. 


Schedule:

  • 8 hours/day on scheduled teaching/working days
  • The 5-7 days before the scheduled start date of the school year
  • Parent-Teacher Conferences
  • Department, building, and LEA professional development, trainings and meetings


Responsibilities:

  • Work with students who have a range of learning, mental, emotional, and physical disabilities.
  • Develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for each student.
  • Model and provide support for general educators implementing specialized instruction and inclusive practices for students with a range of disabilities.
  • Provide assistance with developing and adapting curriculum materials and educational practices to meet the needs of students and teachers.
  • Act as an informational liaison for inclusion, as appropriate.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, teachers, related service providers (SLP, OT, nurses, etc.), school psychologist, other staff, and other schools, as needed, to promote student achievement.
  • Develop behavior plans (FUBAs/BIPs) for students as required by their needs.
  • Use formal and informal assessments to determine student needs and to develop teaching plans.
  • Progress monitor student achievement and complete progress reports for student files and reporting.
  • Teach students in small groups and in one-on-one settings.
  • Train and model appropriate methods and instructional delivery for para educators.
  • Manage, train, and supervise schedules and practices of para educators as they work in inclusive settings with students who have moderate to severe disabilities.
  • Schedule and direct IEP meetings with IEP team within dates in compliance with federal rules and regulations.
  • Effectively, discuss student’s progress with parents, teachers, counselors, and administrators as needed.
  • Collaborate with general Education Teachers, parents, para educators, and other special educators to implement IEPs, programs, and classes for each student.
  • Update student files for current compliance and progress.
  • Adapt general education curriculum and teach basic skills such as social skills, adaptive skills, life skills, and behavior management.
  • Prepare for and conduct parent and student conferencing according to school policy.
  • Collaborate with general Education Teachers to monitor student progress and compliance.
  • Proctor standardized tests.
  • Make data-based instructional decisions to improve student outcomes.
  • Complete reevaluations in accordance with federal rules and regulations and best practice.
  • Complete all Special Education paperwork accurately, according to rules and regulations, and on time.
  • Administer diagnostic assessments, as needed.
  • Establish effective communication channels with students, parents/guardians, and colleagues to ensure a collaborative learning community.
  • Actively participate in department, grade level, campus, and LEA meetings, professional developments, and other trainings.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Current valid Utah teaching license (in CACTUS) in Special Education with Severe Endorsement.
  • Strong knowledge of Utah state standards, Utah Special Education policies and procedures and best instructional pedagogy practices.
  • Proven experience to work with students who have a range of learning, mental, emotional, and physical disabilities.
  • High level organizational skills with strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task easily.
  • Positive interpersonal skills with the proven ability to maintain professionalism and tact in high-stress situations.
  • Creative analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Professional communication skills including but not limited to: excellent written and verbal communication skills; confident, articulate and professional speaking abilities; empathetic listening; and persuasive speaking.
  • Experience with Skyward.
  • Knowledge of Google Workspace and its collaboration tools.
  • Capacity to perform all the responsibilities listed in this posting.
  • Must pass a comprehensive check of education verification and professional references as a condition of employment.
  • Lift up to 25 pounds, traverse school facility, and lead students to safety in the event of an emergency.
