SalaryOur organization is seeking a dedicated Juvenile Justice Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for the youth in our care. You will also provide guidance and counseling to help them navigate personal challenges. Responsibilities
- Maintain control and security of living quarters.
- Provide instruction and supervision to youth in personal hygiene and housekeeping activities.
- Offer counseling to youth on personal behavior problems.
- Adhere to the rules and regulations of Michigan Child Care Institutions and the policies and procedures of our facility.
- Conduct regular safety and security checks.
- Monitor resident behavior and maintain records of identification, charges, and daily activities.
- Escort residents to various locations within and outside of the facility.
- Resolve disputes between residents using verbal de-escalation techniques.
- Assist in meal service and distribution of commissary items and prescribed medication.
- Provide regular reports of resident disturbances, rule violations, and unusual occurrences to supervisors.
- Participate in required job training.
- Respond to resident questions, concerns, and requests in a timely and respectful manner.
- Distribute clothing, toiletries, and other authorized items to residents.
Qualifications
- Experience in a Juvenile Justice or related role is preferred.
- Strong communication and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to adhere to strict safety and security protocols.
- Willingness to participate in ongoing job training.
