Qualifications Job Summary: Under the direction of the Chief Therapeutic Medical Physicist, the Junior Medical Physicist will provide physics support for Radiation Oncology department. The key responsibilities include generating a clinically acceptable treatment plan utilizing clinical knowledge including, but not limited to, anatomy and physiology; radiation biology and oncology; radiation safety and protection; mathematics, and radiation therapy techniques, physics and technology, regular quality assurance testing and dosimetry calibration of radiation therapy equipment, weekly chart checking, and performing both routine and non-routine support tasks. The Junior Medical Physicist must use critical thinking skills when performing radiation treatment planning, plan evaluation, recognizing and resolving equipment problems and treatment discrepancies.

Demonstrates and shares professional and technical skills with other health care providers to enhance quality of patient care. Job Specifications: Physics Support Participation in routine and non-routine clinical service for external beams Performs 3D and IMRT/VMAT/SRS/SBRT treatment planning, double check calculation, treatment plan review, treatment chart and R&V review Perform weekly chart review Participation of routine and non-routine clinical service for brachytherapy Participate in HDR planning, treatment, and QA, and radiation safety Participate in equipment maintenance and calibration of radiation therapy equipment Additional responsibilities in support of the Chief Physicist as required Treatment Simulation Performs, or assists in the development of an optimal treatment simulations and tumor localization using specified imaging modalities including, but not limited to CT, MRT, and PET Fabrications of Beam Modifying Devices Performs, or assists in the planning and implementation of the fabrication of compensation filters, custom shields, and other beam modifying devices Treatment Plan Support Designs a treatment plan by means of computer and/or computation with optimal beam geometry to deliver a prescribed radiation dose and spare critical structures in accordance with the radiation oncologist's prescription Identifies and contours normal and dose-limiting structures by utilizing images from one or more data sets. Assumes proficiency in image registration with various image data sets to include CT, MRI, and PET Creates and transfers reference images and localization markers for portal verification and treatment delivery to include DRRs, CBCTs, and other IGRT methods, as specified Performs calculations for the accurate delivery of the prescribed dose, document all pertinent information in the patient record, and verify the mathematical accuracy of all calculations by an approved method Communicates with the radiation therapist(s) and assume an advisory role in the implementation of the treatment plan including: the correct use of immobilization devices, compensators, wedges, field arrangement, and other treatment or imaging parameters Operates and performs quality assurance, under the direction of the Medical Physicist, on the treatment planning computer(s) Performs, or assists in the application of specific methods of patient and/or beam dosimetry as directed by the Chief or Senior Medical Physicist Other Duties Attends, participates and presents cases in departmental weekly peer review, tumor boards and other multi-disciplinary conferences as requested Participates in quality management in accordance with departmental policies, national guidelines, and accreditation standards Participates in the charge capture and generates documentation for billing in accordance with departmental policies Participates in clinical research for the development and implementation of new techniques in radiation therapy Required Qualifications: Education: Master's Degree in Physics from a program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Physics Education Programs, Inc.

(CAMPEP) Licensure: Board eligible in Therapeutic Medical Physics American Board of Radiology. Must be Board eligible and have completed at least Part One of the Therapeutic Medical Physics Board from the American Board of Radiology (ABR) or the American Board of Medical Physics (ABMP) Experience: One (1) year of Direct clinical experience in radiation therapy, or medical physics in a Radiation Oncology setting Preferred Qualifications: Education: Doctorate in Physics or related field Experience: Two (2) years experience with Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT), Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy (VMAT), Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS), Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy (SBRT), High-Dose Rate (HDR) Brachytherapy, and Radiopharmaceutical Therapy Program Customer Service Agreement I have read the Customer Service Agreement for providing excellent customer service and representing Memorial.
