Peraton is seeking a Junior Systems Administrator to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. The ideal candidate will become part of Peraton's Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Data Center and Cloud Optimization (DCCO) program, providing information technology services to manage and operate the DHS Hybrid Computing Environment (HCE). The HCE is a collection of enterprise computing resources including a data center, colocation sites, and commercial and private cloud services.

Target Salary Range
$51,000 - $82,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.

Day to Day Work Responsibilities:
- You will collaborate with senior IT staff to support, maintain, and optimize our systems
- Systems Support: Provide technical assistance and troubleshooting for hardware, software, network, and security-related issues, escalating more complex problems to senior administrators
- Server Management: Assist in the deployment, configuration, and management of physical and virtual servers, ensuring optimal performance, security, and scalability
- Monitoring and Maintenance: Monitor system performance, identify potential issues, and implement proactive measures to ensure system reliability and availability
- Security Measures: Contribute to the implementation and enforcement of security best practices, including access controls, data protection, and vulnerability assessments to conform with DHS STIG requirements
- Documentation: Maintain accurate documentation of systems, configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to address IT needs, coordinate upgrades, and support ongoing projects
- Automation: Assist in the development and implementation of automated solutions to streamline repetitive tasks and enhance operational efficiency
- Training and Development: Stay updated on emerging technologies and trends in system administration and security, continuously improving your skills and knowledge
- Emergency Response: Participate in an on-call rotation to provide timely support for critical incidents and emergencies
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- BS degree and 0-2 years' experience or HS diploma/equivalent and 4 years' relevant experience.
- U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain/maintain a a DHS Entrance on Duty (EOD) clearance.
- 1-2 years of systems administration experience in Linux
- Strong attention to detail and desire to grow technical expertise
- Ability to commute to Stennis Space Center in Mississippi
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with ServiceNow a plus
